Marx 200 in Nanjing/China
Art Museum Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing/China. 8th to 30th of April, 2018. Exhibition of students of the School of Fine Arts/NNU and School of Art/HfG.
»The philosophers have only interpreted the world in various ways. the point however is to change it.« Karl Marx’s (1818-1883) statement could be read as a direct call to all designers. The course deals conceptually and creatively with the work of the most influential thinker of socialism and communism. His thoughts will be given a new form through posters and contemporary references. This might not quite change the world yet but it most certainly will stimulate reflection on this important philosopher and his criticism of bourgeois and capitalist society. The occasion is Marx's 200th birthday in 2018, accompanied by a large exhibition in Trier. Participants be led and inspired by impulses and introductory presentations on Marx.
