We all may know this: It’s family reunion and once again grandpa unveils his war stories while grandma serves her famous apple cake which she baked after an old family recipe, and father reckons that things were better in the good old days. These memories are personal, hence different from each other. However, they represent a certain era and become an extract of a lively past. But what happens to all these stories, personal experiences, the collection of contemporary documents all the way to the unique taste of granny’s apple cake? They become part of the family, are passed down to the next generation until one day they are lost. »Damals (Back then)« presents a number of family stories. The stories are a collection of original text documents extracted from old school books, personal tales, researched material as well as personal recollection.
