Where to go today?
At the end of last year Chunhua Chen had already published the children's book "Die Wutbanane" (The Rage Banana) with texts by Susanne Boetsch at Springer Verlag. Spurred on by this success, she wanted to develop another book as a diploma project. The result is a book without text about biodiversity. "Jizi's wunderbare Reise" serves as a source of inspiration for parents who like to keep making up new stories. "Where to go today" is to be understood as an invitation to pick up the thread of the different protagonists (Jizi, cat, animal worlds, red umbrella) and to thematize each time anew and to tell freely.
In this sense it is not only a book for children, but also a book to increase the imagination and narrative possibilities of adults. In addition, many pages offer further potential for storytelling through the interaction of the different animal groups or how the animals react to jizi flight in the umbrella. Each double-page spread is full of surprising and loving details that should make an inspiring bedtime story. I also like the striking composition based on a multi-layered jungle that always offers new insights and the almost exemplary perforation by the emerging animals.
