»Grids« von Lara Hies @2016
Starting from the picture format, the picture surface has not only an external form but also an inner one.
The grid is necessarily formed by a continuation of the external edges extending inwards and/or by a reproduction of the surface itself (in miniature). Between grid lines and box patterns, the grid is at the same time a technical aid and the picture theme itself. The grid serves as a structural form that can carry and show rhythm, repetition, infinity, and so on.
The work plays with this very flexible form, which is open to a possible ever-further and will probably never exhaust itself as a structure.
