Books making
With Lü Jingren, the Hochschule für Gestaltung and the Klingspor-Museum in Offenbach has invited a guest from China who is attracting worldwide attention as an outstanding book artist. Lü's books are always an exciting experience for the eye and the sense of touch. In his works he combines influences of modern Western graphic design with traditional Asian design principles. Lü Jingren and Lü Min from Beijing conducted a three-day workshop in the bookbindery of the HfG Offenbach. Sven Dorn, head of the bookbindery accompanied the workshop (April 25th to 27th 2012).
Exhibition Lü Jingren
At the same time, the neighboring Klingspor Museum in Offenbach shows the most important books of the graphic artist and illustrator Lü Jingren. It is easy to see how sensually and conceptually he combines material, print, processing and content into a coherent book object. Lü worked in Japan for many years and now teaches at the "Academy of Arts and Design of Tsinghua University" in Beijing (exhibition Lü Jingren book design April 19 to June 10, 2012).
