Redesign the world. Magazine for young creativity
How does the new come into the world? Where do we find stimulation for design and fashion? »Outlandish« goes forward by retreating or sidestepping. The world is unbelievably rich in crafts, tradition and folklore. Most of them are completely unknown to us or sink into oblivion. Each edition features generally unfamiliar regions and cultures. »Outlandish« collects, documents and analyses the visual key codes of identity in remote worlds and unknown lifestyles.
Researched and created by young designers from different universities. Traditional patterns, ornaments and elements are to be redesigned for contemporary use. They will be revived by the most gifted talents from the best art academies in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas to invigorate conventional modes of observation in the 21st century. »Outlandish« documents past lifestyles and discovers and initiates new visual worlds. The project starts in China in September 2014. Editor in chief: Klaus Hesse, Editor: Institute for new communication (INK) / Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach (HfG)
