| | Klaus Hesse was born 1954 in Elberfeld/Germany. He studied photography and typography at the University Wuppertal and has been Art Director in Hamburg, Munich and Duesseldorf. Together with Christine Hesse he founded Hesse Design in Duesseldorf in 1988. The agency was also represented in Berlin from 2001 to 2004. The two offices are responsible for the corporate designs of Audi, Bosch, the City of Duesseldorf, Robert Bosch Foundation, Unesco World Heritage Middle Rhine, Zapp and many others. In 2004 Hesse Design was elected „The most creative design office of Germany“ by the specialized press. Klaus Hesse has been nominated for the Design Prize of Germany several times and has won more than a hundred awards, amongst others the traditional competition for the visual appearance of the „Kieler Woche 2006“. From 1993 to 1998 he was professor for communication design at the University of Applied Science in Dortmund and at the University Duisburg-Essen. Klaus Hesse has taught at the Offenbach Design Academy since 1999. There he heads the major field of study „communication design“, reaching first place in the ranking of Germany’s creative universities (trade magazine „Focus“, 2006). Another cause for media attention was the action „11 designers for Germany“ which Klaus Hesse founded together with Fonds Hickmann on the occasion of the soccer World Cup 2006. Since 1998 he has been chief editor of the ADC junior magazine „sushi“. Klaus Hesse is also member of the Type Directors Club of New York and the Art Directors Club Germany.
